With an initial budget of atleast D100,000 as Chapterthon, ISOC Gambia Chapter supported the Completion of a week-long project of Connecting and enabling the schools for the differently-able communities at the following centers:
- The Gambia Organization for the Visually impaired (GOVI),
- St Jone’s School for the Deaf, and
- Methodist School for children with special needs (Children with Autism, Down Syndrome, etc)
The project Covered:
- The Installation of a 10Mbps Internet Connection for each of the 3 Campuses
- Campus WiFi Network, – Refurbishment of the GOVI Computer Lab,
- Donation of Computers
- Setting up Local Area Networks to allow Internet and resource sharing.
The main objective of this project is to inspire inclusion while we connect the connected. We believe that the Internet is for everyone!
The Chapter hopes to start works on phase 2 of this project which will involve extension of the Network, Content development and Training series to further strengthen these communities in using ICT and Internet Applications.
